How Much Does It Cost to Pave One Mile of Road?

Mr. Amoako-Atta, speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of the Ministry of Roads and Highways’ nine-member Ministerial Advisory Board in Accra, provided insightful statistics regarding Ghana’s road network. As per his statement, the country boasts a substantial 72,000 kilometers (44,739 miles) of roads. However, the current state of these roads indicates that only 23% have been asphalted, while 39% can be categorized as being in good condition. On the other hand, a significant portion of 61% falls under the classification of fair, poor, or nonexistent.

With Ghana celebrating its 60th anniversary, it becomes evident that our road infrastructure is lagging behind when compared to international standards. This realization calls for urgent action to address this disparity and propel the nation forward in terms of road development and modernization.

The collaborative efforts of renowned NGOs, BringBackHope to Ghana and The Aaron Mavel Foundation, have been instrumental in advancing the government’s ambitious agenda of achieving impeccable road infrastructure throughout the nation. Drawing upon their extensive expertise and invaluable experiences, these organizations have joined forces to address the issue at hand by proposing a mutually beneficial solution. By enabling benefactors to receive tax donations for their contributions towards road repairs, we aim to incentivize their involvement while actively resolving the prevailing road-related challenges.

COST:

Cost of a 1/2 of a mile (2,640 feet) $100,000 + 50,000.00 = $150,000

Cost of a 1/3 (0.33km/1760 feet) of a mile $67,000 + $50,000 = $117,000

Cost of a 1/4 (0.25km/1320 feet) of a mile $50.000 + $50,000 = $100,000

Cost of a 1/5 (0.2km/1056 feet) of a mile $40,000 + $50,000 = $90,000

Every road paving plan is different — the cost of paving a road depends on where it’s located, how wide it is, and several other factors — however, a good rule of thumb is that every mile of road costs at least 1.5 million Ghana Cedi’s to pave, taking into account labor, equipment, and pavement expenses.

The cost to asphalt 1 mile (5280 feet) of Road in the US is $1 Million, but in Ghana including drainage, its only1,500,000 Ghc, that’s equivalent to $189,188.00 US dollars. Rounding to $200,000.00 + our $50,000.00 Administrative Fee. Grand Total $250,000

*Including Administrative Fee of $50,000.00
The administrative fee will be used for administrative support for salaries in
providing the necessary paperwork for the project, and for other related fees to the project.
