Support Hope House: Transforming Lives and Ending Homelessness

Welcome to Hope House, a unique home shelter dedicated to providing a warm and supportive environment for individuals facing difficult circumstances. Our mission is to create a family-like atmosphere for those who have lost their jobs and/or homes, emancipated teens transitioning out of foster care, and disabled veterans. With your donations and support, we can make a lasting impact in the fight against homelessness and hunger.

At Hope House, we believe in empowering our residents through education and job training. Our FLCC program offers comprehensive training opportunities at the community center, equipping our residents with valuable skills for future employment. Every weekday, for four hours a day, our residents participate in training sessions that prepare them for the job market.

In addition to their training, our residents become part of a closely knit community. Under the guidance of our dedicated house parents, young adults receive supervision and support, while each member of the house is assigned specific responsibilities. We encourage active participation and foster a sense of belonging through weekly meetings that provide opportunities for input and recognition from the household.

Our commitment goes beyond immediate needs. Through mentoring programs, we strive to instill self-sufficiency and nurture confidence in essential personal and social skills. Depending on the individual or family, the program can last from three to five years. During this time, our residents have the chance to earn money by working at the community center, opening doors to financial independence. Whether it’s purchasing their first car or saving for a down payment on a home, these opportunities enable them to build a brighter future.

Your generous contributions can make a significant difference in the lives of our residents. By supporting Hope House, you are directly contributing to the transformation of individuals and families, helping them break free from the cycle of homelessness and achieve long-term stability. Together, we can create a community where everyone has a chance to thrive.

  • The Hope House Project provides shelter and support for families and individuals facing homelessness due to job loss, health problems, or transitioning out of foster care.
  • The project currently manages a 6 bedroom house accommodating 9 people, including a husband and wife with their two young sons, a disabled veteran, a young man transitioning out of foster care, a homeless man, and the House Parents.
  • To be considered for the project, applicants must complete a Tenant Application and go through an interview process, followed by signing a Lease Agreement that outlines expectations, rules, and benefits.
  • The House Parents oversee the residents, who have assigned jobs and duties that rotate daily. Weekly meetings and devotions create a sense of family and provide an opportunity to recognize achievements or voice concerns.
  • The project offers programs like Gary’s Signs and Computer Bargain Centers, providing job training, self-sufficiency, and teamwork skills. Mentors assist with personal and social development.
  • Residents must work at least 5 hours a day, 4 days a week in these programs to contribute to their stay in the project. Older adults serve as chaperones, and workshops help adults connect with youth outside the home.
  • The project assists residents in obtaining their driver’s licenses, provides access to maintained and insured vehicles, and offers gas allowances and bus fare waivers when needed.
  • The program duration ranges from 3 to 5 years, during which residents can earn enough money to purchase a used vehicle and make a down payment on their own home or condo.
  • Financial management classes are available to help with budgeting and saving for future needs.
  • The project’s budget includes a donation from Ameriprise Financial, rental costs, in-kind donations for utilities, lawn care, phones/cells, and food.
  • Outcomes and measurable indicators of success include the reduction of litter and waste in the community, increased community understanding of the impact and cost of littering, strong attendance at community clean-up events, visible display of educational material in public spaces, and an increase in specific requests for program-related information.
